After a light breakfast we began our walk around the wall encompassing the city at about 8:30. The walk is a bit over 1 and a half miles with a lots of up and down. Timing is everything as the crowds from the cruise ships and elsewhere begin to seriously build as the morning goes on. The walk began at the Ploce Gate and continues on to it’s high point at Fort Minceta. From there a walk along the western wall to Fort Bokar looking across a small bay to Fort Lovrijenac sitting alone atop a large rock outcropping. Looking into the town, in addition to the major attractions, you can see some of the damage as well as repairs and new roof tiles from the war with Yugoslavia and Serbia in 1991. Then on to the southern wall overlooking the crystal clear Adriatic. Finally a turn back past the small boat harbor and St. John Fort to our starting point and the Stradun. A chance encounter with some GOT characters as well!
