Since there are no direct flights home from Croatia to the USA why not stop in Berlin for a couple of days on our way home. With some apologies for the pictures as there was light rain, we did a hop on- hop off bus for an overview of the city. The first stop one of the prettiest plazas in the city including the Concert Hall and the German and French Domes. Then to Alexander Platz and the city tower. Several sites including the Berlin Cathedral, Humbolt University and the Staats Library plaza where the Nazis held a massive book burning. We went to the Reichstag, now the center of the reunified German government. Continuing to the Unter den Linden to the Brandenburg Gate. Then westward past the Sieges-Saule to the Charlottenburg Castle. Heading back to the (center) we skirted the Tiergarten and passed the Opera House. Our last part of the tour took us along the to the old east – west division of the city and the only significant portion of the wall allowed to remain to stand which is now mostly full of graffiti art.
