This morning we walked down by the ferry dock to The Edwin Fox, one of the oldest wooden sailing ships still in existence. It actually brought some of the original prisoners toAustralia to settle that land. They are not planning to restore it, only maintain its a museum. Then we boarded The Inter Island Ferry for our trip up the Queen Charlotte Sound and across The Cook Straight to the North Island and Wellington. Great vistas again and a look at a lot of the Green Mussel Farms. Upon out arrival in Wellington we visited The Museum of the City and The Sea. It was a great museum with interesting exhibits and holographic movies. A stroll along the commercial waterfront, and then we drove off to our accommodations. Can anyone guess what the two “horned type” structures are? Take a look at the second picture. When you enter public toilets here there are spoken instructions asking you to lock the door. Once you do that music starts playing and it tells you that you have ten minutes to do your business. When you finish and wash your hands the door unlocks automatically and the music and lights turn off. Of course you get a thank you form the voice!
Upon arriving at our digs (more on that in the next post) there was a cloudburst with a short period of rain. After we experienced the most beautiful intense double rainbow that I have ever seen. It seemed to end just on the beach no more than 50 yards from our room. The water was very clear but I couldn’t see the pot of gold!
