The only words to describe the Taj Mahal is “WOW.” This is without a doubt the most beautiful building in the world. Built in the 1600’s by Shah Jahan as a tomb for his wife, it took 22 years with 20,000 people (? Slaves) working on it every day. It is the finest example of jewels laid into marble in the world ( pietra dura). Many of the jewels are less than 1″ in size and up to 40 pieces can be in one square inch of design. Of interest is that the last 8 years of his life Shah Jahan was imprisoned by his son (power grab) and had to watch the final construction from his prison cell. Against his wishes, the son buried Shah Jahan in the Taj as well as a final insult to his father.

You have a fine sense of photography, composition and ability to capture the essence of scenes on your travels. My best regards to you both. I am grateful for your friendship toward Marie on her latest journey.
