Several of us awoke early for a post dawn flight to Mt. Everest. As you can see from the departure board it didn’t quite work out that way due to haze and smog at the Kathmandu Airport. We did eventually take off for our flight over the Himalayas. Several of the high peaks that we flew over are Melungtse, Cho-oyu, Nuptse, Lhotse, Makalu, and just as the clouds stared filling in from below, we saw the shoulder and peak of Everest (Sagarmatha). Ron, John, Rod, John Woods, and I then all celebrated with champagne. We came, we saw, we conquered (with a little help from our pilot!)
