Spent almost two days in St. Michaels, one of the most popular towns on the eastern shore of the Chesapeake. Due to a hint from a local we arrived by “the back door” heading up San Domingo Creek and then taking our dingys further up the creek to the back of town. This gave us a quiet setting well protected from the recent constant northeast breezes, and easy access to town. They have a wonderful Maritime Museum here with a typical Chesapeake screw pile lighthouse along with the history and workings of the Chesapeake Bay. There are many historic houses from the 1700’s. The harbor is very pretty with great restaurants and the main street in town is reminiscent of many tourist towns. Lots of shops to buy stuff that you don’t need. Many destination wedding spots. And of course great crab restaurants.
