The next morning as we were departing Trinidad for Havana we were delayed by parades of elementary school children celebrating the birth of Jose’ Marti, a Cuban national holiday. Jose’ led the revolution against Spain and the formation of the republic in the late 1890’s. Remember the Maine! The children dress up as Jose’ and other heros and March through the streets. Of course homage to Fidel is always present.
I thought that I caught a glimpse of “Stanley” in the parade??
