Sailed to Portsmouth today.  Sited our first whales about 5 miles out of Rockport.  Two finback whales followed our path for a while and then were gone. Also spotted a loon sitting in the water. The wind really picked up just outside Portsmouth and small craft advisories were posted. We got in just in time to lower sails outside the harbor. It was a good thing because the lobster pots were all over the place. We had to dodge left and right going into the harbor to avoid them. Based on what we’ve seen and the amount of traps the lobsters don’t have a prayer.

Strolled Portsmouth this afternoon and out to dinner at a seafood restaurant that was supposedly voted best in N.E. Menu looks great and all fresh caught. Tomorrow seems like a lay day for two reasons. I think I’ve been nurturing a root canal and will be off to the endodontist in the AM. Also forecast is for a cold front and strong thunderstorms. Sounds like a laundry day to me!
