We spent today in the Basin in the New Meadows River, Casco Bay. We decided not to travel today as small craft warnings were posted for the afternoon, winds over 30 knots. We left our anchorage in the dingy and proceed to the mainland where there were 1900 acres of conservancy land. After trepsing through a little mudflat we made it to shore and followed a well marked trail. The terrain was very similar to the Adirondacks complete with ferns, evergreens and pines. We were quite comfortable hiking. There was a steady breeze; quite a contrast to the record heat being recorded all over.
After lunch we lazed around the boat reading and doing projects. El and Ken helped out a sailor who got caught in rough wind by helping him with his tattered jib.
Tomorrow we will head to Boothbay Harbor. Sail on , sail on sailor!
