Left our friendly seals this morning reading to the western sore of Penobscot Bay, our first time back on the mainland in over a week. Like most towns that we have visited, lobstering reigns supreme. It is fascinating to cross the bay and see dozens of lobster boats and thousands of traps and floats everywhere that you look. We observed more lobster being thrown back in the ocean in four hours than most people would see live lobsters in a lifetime.
Tenants Harbor, like most towns we have visited is tiny but beautiful. A general store, a gas station and a couple of restaurants. Of course lots of action on the docks with 18 wheelers loading lobster for shipment all over the country. The pictures tonight are at The Cod End restaurant where we didn’t order lobster, but rather twin lobster as the price was so cheap. You can buy fresh lobster off the dock for $4.00/ lb. Glad we walked off dinner after we were done. We will probably leave Penobscot tomorrow and head to Mucungus Bay further west.
