Off Roading to Cape Tribulation and Daintree Rain Forest… and Shrimp on the Barbie

Today we drove north through the Daintree Rain Forest and then further north off road to Cape Tribulation where we found a swimming hole in Emmagen Creek. We drove through streams, took a cable run ferry over the Daintree River, and to isolated palm tree lined beaches that were as beautiful as any we have seen anywhere in the world. There was nobody on them and the water was deliciously warm. Perhaps the “stingers” (extremely poisonous jelly fish) kept people away, but there were safe areas to swim.

Finished up the afternoon at Mossman Gorge, an Aborigonal land in the rain forest with a phenomenal hike and a suspension bridge that I am proud to say Cheryl and Alan crossed with only minimal trepidation. Note that Alan’s eyes are closed! Off to a seafood dinner where I ordered surf and turf. The surf was prawns, but when served it was actually Shrimp on the Barbie! My day was complete.

I loved the “Achtung” sign about Crocs. The emphasis on german on the sign suggests a preferential taste for that nationality???
