Our Tent Camp Palace, The Road to Jaipur, more Local Dances, and an Indian Wedding

This morning before leaving Nagaur we toured the Palace Grounds. The Palace is from the 12th century and was added on to over the ensuing centuries up to the 1700’s. You can see the King’s throne as well as frescos on the walls depicting Palace Life. It was built in the traditional Mughal Style with numerous symmetric gardens and great rooms with numerous decorative columns. From there we traveled back to Jaipur with a stop in Pushkar for lunch. We were fortunate to stumble upon pre-wedding preparations and were invited in by the women participants to observe their singing and comeraderie. On arrival in Jaipur we observed an actual wedding taking place. It is the most lavish I have ever seen. Hundreds of guests, two jumbotron screens, boom cameras for video, numerous help in attendance, and the largest buffet I have seen. The bride was beautiful and brought into the ceremony in a most appropriate fashion. We watched some dancing and then had an excellent Italian Dinner. A nice change of pace since all of our meals have been Indian cuisine up to this point.

What a wonderful adventure you two are having! Wish I was there! So colorful, and unusual. The bride being carried in the litter was the best. I’m glad meg didn’t know there was such a thing !
