The Vistadome Train to Aguas Calientes – Skip that…to Machu Picchu Pueblo. They Renamed the Town!

After lunch in Ollantaytambo we boarded the train to Machu Picchu Pueblo. It was a beautifully scenic ride following the Inca Trail passing snow capped peaks, small rural villages, waterfalls, and Incan temples and terraces. The town of Machu Picchu Pueblo is really only a staging area for those traveling to Machu Picchu itself, and is kind of small. They did install a sculpture trail however following the Aguas Calientes River dedicated to Incan folklore. The church in the town plaza was about the only scenic building that we saw in town.
