After touring the Inca sites in the morning we toured some of the hot spots of Cusco. We started outside of the Sun Temple where there were beautiful gardens complete with sculptured grass with the 3 Inca animal symbols – The Condor, Snake, and Puma. We also saw several large colorful humming birds. Then it was back to the Plaza des Armas and the Cathedral, the surrounding plazas of San Blas and near a chapel where there is now a 5 star hotel with the only Cedar tree left in Cusco. The hotel did preserve the chapel however. Then an unusual Inca wall on the street Siete Culebres (seven snakes) where there are actual carvings of snakes in the wall. Finally to the Inca Museum and then some quick shopping for Alpaca near our hotel. Tomorrow we are off to our eye clinic in Ecuador, but to learn about that you need to look at last year’s blog.
