Playing at La Playa. An Afternoon and Evening at Playa Ancon.

There is a beautiful peninsula jutting out into the Caribbean Sea just south of Trinidad. It is one of the best beaches on the south coast. Most of it is gorgeous sand stretching for as far as the eye can see. Closer to the mainland the beach is coral with multiple reefs for snorkeling and scuba right off the shore. We started on the sand beach where I went swimming while watching a rainbow form just south of the mountains and rain forest. We then moved a mile or two westward for snorkeling. This in preparation for our fish bar b que on the beach hosted by Jesus. While snorkeling I saw flounder and two large Langosta (Caribbean lobsters) but was unable to snag either for our dinner feast. Jesus bought fresh Hake off the boat from the fishing fleet as well as fresh shrimp. While Jesus and friends were preparing the coals another friend of Jesus, Gabriella gave Barry, Joan, Cheryl and I dancing lessons in preparation for the late evening activities. No stone left unturned and not a moment wasted. Jesus was assisted by two of the artists and their wives that we had met earlier in the day, Jorge Sa’enz and Atner Cadalso who prepared salad and helped filet and cook the fish. As the sun set in the west we enjoyed a feast in a setting hard to duplicate. After finishing and cleaning up it was off to the other popular dance and music spot in Trinidad, the Casa de la Trova. Armed with our new dance moves, we showed the locals a thing or two. Not really but its nice to dream!

This was a very special day! We had the chance to enjoy a very good weather after so many days of rain and cold temperature… our artist friends cooked for us delicious fresh fish! … we danced and were astonished with a bright rainbow and a superb sunset.
what else can we ask for?
