As the majestic orange sun rose through the azure blue Indian sunrise emphasizing the mystical aura of Jaipur, Cheryl attended her private Yoga Session (she was the only taker at that early hour of the morning) while being watched over by a flock of Peacocks in the trees above. All very zen! It was then on to The Lakshmi Narayan Hindu Temple, made entirely of marble. No pictures inside but we can guarantee you that it was magnificent.
Then off to a local factory that produces Indian cloth paper by hand. They export practically all of their products to the USA and you have probably seen them. One more stop before lunch at the factory for Blue Pottery. Again everything is made entirely by hand. There is so much available labor here that it does not pay to mechanize. Driving through the city there is an occasional modern building but most are built in the traditional style.This afternoon we went to a carpet and textile factory. Again to see the process in the hand weaving was amazing. It can take several months to make one carpet. Cheryl also gave us a demonstration of how to hand stamp Batik. She did quite a good job if I do say so myself and you can see the result being held up by one of the staff.
Did I forget to mention that we lost one of our group to a snake charming session that went awry yesterday. Peggy will be sorely missed! (Only kidding!) Dinner with a local Jaipur family tonight. My apologies for some of the pictures being out of order, but the Internet can be finicky here.
