Early this morning we drove back to First Mesa and the Hopi pueblo town of Walpi. You can see it way up on top of the mesa. It was by far the best of all of the Mesa pueblos that we have seen. It is 1100 years old, still utilized, and very well preserved. We had an excellent Hopi tour guide. No pictures allowed however. Then it was on to Coal Mine Canyon near Tuba City. It is not well known, not a state or national park, is off of a dirt road that is not marked, empty of people and absolutely stunning. I would say almost as spectacular as Grand Canyon in its own way. We then drove through the Echo Cliffs in the Arizona desert over Glen Canyon Dam to our resort on Lake Powell. After 1000 miles it’s time for a little R&R poolside before a spectacular sunset.
