Just Another Typical Day At the Office

Finally after our “caravana” arrived  at the tiny pueblo of Malta (pronounced Maltay) and our pulse rates  returned to normal, we scoped out the buildings for a place to set up shop. We settled on an upstairs room in the school building where we could screen vision and dispense glasses in the main room, and I could examine patients in a closet that we cleaned out. It actually was one of the best setups for me of all of the places we have gone to as I could close the door to get the darkness I needed to examine the eye properly. You will see some before and after pictures. We finished late afternoon for the terror ride back to Riobamba. For added fun fog and rain had settled into the high terrain. Finally arriving back in the city we set out to celebrate Cheryl and my anniversary. Unfortunately the 2 nicer restaurants that I wanted to go to were closed on Monday, so we took our entire staff out for a nice pizza and Italian dinner with celebratory cake for dessert. All in all a very different but fun way to spend our anniversary.
