A Long Days Journey Into …… Colta!

Today’s caravana took us to the town of Colta. Considerably larger and more accessible than yesterday. We were greeted by about 120 people waiting to be screened. It was an arduous day, but we managed to finish up by 4:00 or so. The mayor of the town came by and as a thank you offered our team a tour by boat of Laguna de Colta, discovered by Spaniards in 1534 and rediscovered by Simon Bolivar in the 1800s. It is the site of the first Catholic church in Ecuador. We saw some great wildlife, wonderful scenery, and after getting off the boat a beautiful greenhouse filled with local orchids. It was a tiring day and Cheryl enjoyed a relaxing soak in the tub back in our hotel room. We depart for several days in and around Banos tomorrow.
