We started our morning at the Serralves Museum of Modern Art and Sculpture Garden. Some very interesting exhibits and a beautiful garden with works from around the world including Claus Oldenberg. Then it was back to the Ribiera to continue where we left off. We strolled the markets along the riverbank with the usual cork everything for sale and an interesting human sculpture. This gent won the award for best in Portugal. Then it was a walk across the Ponte de Dom Luis I to Gaia. We strolled the riverfront along the Avenue Diego Leite past many wineries and cask carrying boats. These are the best views of the city of Porto. Lunch on the praca at Presuntaria Transmontana enjoying the atmosphere (but not the tacky trumpet player). Then it was off to the vineyard at Casa Calem for a tour and tasting. Their museum was excellent as were the several varieties of Port. One last sojourn across the Eiffel bridge where we watched kids jump off the bridge into the river. The final stop before heading back to the hotel was the Casa do Infante which in its lower level had Roman ruins and upstairs had a great exhibit about Henry the Navigator and Portugese exploration. We also passed by the Synagogue of Porto. Dinner was near our hotel at an excellent Italian restaurant, Il Fornaio.
