We arrived in Sedona late in the afternoon and rather than head to the hotel we decided to drive around and see the sites in and around the south side of the city. We stayed out until dusk and then hit the hotel and hot tub. The setting for Sedona is one of the most spectacular for a city that we have ever seen. Some of the more famous “rocks” that have been named, and that you may pick out are: Cathedral Rocks, Chimney Rock, Coffee Pot Rock, Bell Rock, Snoopy Rock, Courthouse Butte, and Thunder Mountain. This scenic beauty is attested to by the number of “western” movies filmed here. The towering red rocks and mountains were breath taking.
What is also notable is the way the town has been developed. Commercial real estate is respectful of the gorgeous natural surroundings. Buildings blend in rather than dominate the scenery. I wish every town had stricter rules.
